As a lifelong dancer, Miranda Watson, EdM, E-RYT was initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits but discovered that it also helped her to manage stress, quiet the mind, and align with her spiritual center. Yoga felt like coming home. She developed a daily practice, became a certified yoga instructor through Asheville Yoga Center in 2019, and has now been practicing yoga for over 22 years.

Miranda has been influenced by Iyengar, Vinyasa, Yin, and Viniyoga styles of yoga which have helped shape her emphasis on healthy alignment, breathwork and linking breath with movement, addressing the connective tissues as well as the muscles, and personalizing one’s practice in order to maximize yoga’s therapeutic benefits.

In her classes, Miranda thoughtfully creates class sequences that prepare the body for greater opening and strengthening. She seeks to hold space for students to release stress and tension, find their center, and listen to their inner guidance. She incorporates themes drawn from the wisdom of yoga philosophy and diverse spiritual traditions that relate to the human condition and our shared desire to experience a deepened sense of connection and peace.

Miranda has a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in cultural anthropology and a master’s degree in education from Harvard University. In addition to teaching group yoga, she enjoys leading workshops that help deepen and enrich students’ yoga knowledge and experience. She offers customized private yoga for individuals, private events, and employee wellness yoga for businesses. She also teaches kid yoga at area schools and is an education consultant. She is a YACEP provider who offers topic-specific workshops for students and Continuing Education training for yoga instructors. She is enrolled in a 300 Hour YTT program, which she plans to complete in 2024, making her an E-RYT 500, YACEP. Miranda enjoys the close-to-nature lifestyle of living out in the country with her husband, two children, and two pets. She loves to read books about yoga and spirituality, cook, write, garden, dance, hike, and take long walks with family and friends.
